Clermont County Asian Longhorned Beetle Quarantine Expanded

Posted on: August 27, 2012

The Ohio Department of Agriculture has announced the expansion of the Asian Longhorned Beetle Quarantine Zone to 61 square miles in Clermont County, Ohio.  The movement of hardwood logs, firewood, stumps, roots, and branches is now prohibited in the quarantine zone in an effort to prevent the spread of the non-native wood boring species.  A map of the additional 268 parcels of property in Batavia and Stonelick Township as well as a description of the beetle can be found at the following link: www.agri.ohio.gov

The quarantine also restricts the sale of nursery stock, green lumber, and logs of the following trees: maple, horse chestnut, buckeye, mimosa, birch, hackberry, ash, golden raintree, katsura, sycamore, poplar, willow, mountain ash, and elm.
